Lincoln Memorial: Graffiti Answer

Evelyn Beatrice Longman was a protege of Daniel Chester French who designed the statue of Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial. Around 1920, she carved the decorative portions around Lincoln's Second Inaugural Speech on the Memorial wall.

In addition to her carving she left a personal imprint on the Memorial in the 2nd wreath from the right as you are looking at the speech.

Some say there is an 'S' or possibly an 'SC' after her initials as well. All the letters are hard to see at this point. I'm sure the weathering of 95 years and people finding this and touching it have slowly rubbed away her faint marks. 

Lincoln Memorial: The Mis-Spelled Word Answer

After some careful examination it is possible to see where the mistake was corrected:

On the 19th line down from the top in the word "FUTURE".

You have to look very closely though:

And in the right light:

So there you have it! Proof that people make mistakes. And that 'future' is not spelled 'euture'.
